We make daily deliveries to hospitals, funeral homes, businesses and residential.

OUR STORY
Calico Florist & Tux Rental is a Freeman family-owned-operated business in Soddy-Daisy, Tennessee, and has been creating beautiful floral arrangements since 1984.
But wait, let’s back up and give you a little history.
Sylvia Freeman (oldest of the 6 Freeman children) aspired to be a beautician and in 1964 she acquired her license. At the age of 18, she began her business with Linda Robinson (wife of W. E. Robison) as her first customer. Linda to this day is still a loyal customer but more than that she is a great friend!
1977, Sylvia asked her dad J. C. Freeman (Hamilton County Bus Driver) to build her a beauty shop.
CALICO was established in 1978. Sylvia chose that name because she would be cutting, styling, coloring all kinds of hair.
January 1984, Rick Freeman convinced his dad, J.C. Freeman that he wanted to design and operate a floral business in Soddy-Daisy, Tennessee. Little did Sylvia know when she chose CALICO for her beauty shop name, it was perfect because Rick would now be designing, cutting, designing, all kinds and colors of beautiful flowers.
May of 1984, the two siblings, Sylvia and Rick opened and CALICO FLORIST AND TUX RENTAL were born.
While Sylvia was sharing her talent with numerous women (making them beautiful as they would say) she was also sneaking into the florist showroom where she found she had other interests and talents as well.
Rick had such an extraordinary talent that seemed to escalate with each design. In the past, Rick was also the President of the Chattanooga Professional Florist Association. Rick was co-owner and head designer.
November of 2014, Rick went home to be with our heavenly father and we are sure he is designing all kinds of beautiful arrangements now.
In 2014, Melissa Freeman joined Sylvia full time. These two designers and the talent they have is just unmeasurable. Rick's legacy and loving care for our customers carry on in the lives of these two sisters.
In 2019, Janice Freeman retired from Erlanger Medical to join Sylvia and Melissa full-time. Janice had been part-time at Calico Florist for years. Working after hours and on weekends, but now brings her full attention to the table. Janice is our resident delivery person, singer, sign changer and embellisher.

And then for those of you who drive by our shop and read our sign - once again = You’re welcome, I’m sorry, or Enjoy!
Calico Florist originally opened and operated in the living room of a mobile home then moved into our beautiful showroom of 1800 sq. ft. We are located at 9123 Dayton, Pike, Soddy Daisy, Tn just off Highway 27.
Come by and meet the Freeman girls at CALICO FLORIST however, I must warn you, the rest of the Freeman family (skilled and unskilled designers) are also called in on holidays, emergency overloads, and special occasions so on any given day you could meet the whole crew - you just never know.
